Volvo Group said it will be exhibiting at next week’s ConExpo-Con/Ag 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center after all.
On Thursday the company announced its construction equipment arm would be pulling out of the show because of the outbreak of COVID-19. But Friday Volvo Construction Equipment said it was too late in the game to physically withdraw its presence.
“At this point in preparations it would not be possible for Volvo CE to remove the equipment and dismantle the booth before the show begins,” Volvo CE said in a statement. “Instead, a small number of locally hired independent staff will remain on the site for the duration of the show.”
No Volvo staff will be at the show.

Initially cancelled exhibits from Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Penta, Volvo Financial Services, Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, SDLG and Terex Trucks will now be on display.
The manufacturer is expected to take up an estimated 60,000-square-feet of show floor space at the trade show, which covers an estimated total of 2.7 million square feet at the convention center.
The show, one of the largest construction trade show’s in North America, runs March 10-14.
The convention is still taking place, but AEM released a statement from President Dennis Slater outlining updates around planning, including commitments and cancellations.
International and corporate travel restrictions have impacted planned exhibits at the show. Cancellations received so far represent 44,950-square-feet of space, or roughly 1.7 percent of total space. Of those exhibitors that have cancelled only four booths were over 2,000 square feet and include Platform Basket, Camso/Michelin, Stanley Infrastructure and BASF.
Organizers said they have since resold 15,500-square-feet of show floor space.
More than 130,000 are expected to attend the show with more than 2,500 exhibitors, according to the show’s website. It also noted more than 4,000 new registrations this year with advance registration ahead of its 2017 show.
