Thomas McCartney has resigned as president and chief operating officer of Tropicana Las Vegas, the company announced Tuesday.
McCartney’s resignation will be effective Oct. 31, the company said in a statement.
“I am confident that Tropicana Las Vegas once again has become a very competitive property on the Las Vegas Strip due to its physical and service transformation,” McCartney said.
As of Tuesday, no replacement for McCartney had been announced. Tropicana CEO Alex Yemenidjian hired McCartney in December 2009 to oversee the hotel’s $165 million renovation and expansion.
“Tom had a tremendous impact on many aspects of our operations, especially in shaping our service culture,” Yemenidjian said in a statement.
Most recently, the hotel at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, ended its partnership with Miami-based club operator Nikki Beach. The company decided to operate the hotel’s pool, café and nightclub in house.
McCartney joined the Tropicana after a 10-month stint as president of Planet Hollywood. He has also served as executive vice president of the Luxor and senior vice president of New York-New York.
