As U.S. Net gaming bill stalls, New Jersey sees progress

As time is quickly running out for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., to find bills to attach his online poker legalization measure to before the end of the current congressional session, efforts to approve online gaming in New Jersey are moving forward.

Downtown gaming revenues see biggest gain in two years

The last time casinos in downtown Las Vegas reported a double-digit increase in their monthly gaming revenues was June 2008 — which was also the last time gaming revenues actually increased in the troubled market.

Reid deals online poker plan

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who has opposed online gambling in the past, has begun circulating a draft bill to legalize online poker. If passed, the bill would benefit some of Reid’s biggest backers during his recent re-election campaign, an industry analyst noted.

Herbst Gaming expected to exit bankruptcy by ’11

The reconstituted Herbst Gaming is expected to exit bankruptcy by the end of the year as new management and owners focus on operating the casino company and slot machine route operator.
