May traffic slightly higher at McCarran

McCarran International Airport experienced a less-than 1 percent increase in passenger traffic during May, the Clark County Aviation Department reported Friday.

The airport had 3,663,251 arriving and departing passengers during the month, compared with 3,652,634 passengers in May 2011, a 0.3 percent increase.

For the first five months of the year, McCarran has seen passenger volume of 17,156,388, up 2.4 percent compared with 16,758,805 passengers in the same five months of 2011.

Southwest Airlines, McCarran’s largest air carrier, had 1.4 million passengers in May, a 0.9 percent increase. Allegiant Airlines continues to grow passenger counts at McCarran, serving 9.4 percent more customers in May compared with a year ago.
