Lucky’s poised to take over Riviera’s race and sports book

Independent sports book operator Lucky’s will take over the Riviera’s race and sports book pending regulatory approval.

Lucky’s, which is operated by Brandywine Bookmaking, now runs 16 race and sports books in Nevada, including two downtown and the off-Strip Terrible’s Casino. The agreement would give Lucky’s its first casino on the Strip.

The Riviera’s new ownership, headed by investor Barry Sternlicht, took over the operation last month. The Riviera and Lucky’s plan to develop a new race and sports book location on the casino floor near the Strip entrance.

Riviera CEO Andy Choy said Lucky’s was selected after issuing a formal request for proposals.
