Layoffs hit Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas announced Tuesday that it has laid off more than 40 employees in its gaming operations department.

“In evaluating our business needs, we have determined it was necessary to make a small reduction in staff, less than 1 percent of our total work force,” the company said in a statement.

The Cosmopolitan, which opened Dec. 15, 2010, sits between CityCenter and Bellagio. The $3.9 billion resort employs about 4,186 part-time and full-time workers. Contact reporter Chris Sieroty at csieroty@reviewjournal.com or 702-477-3893.
