Griddle Cafe at SLS Las Vegas will close

The owner of the Los Angeles-based Griddle Cafe is closing her location inside the SLS Las Vegas.

The restaurant, best known for its over-sized breakfast items, will be replaced by a 24-hour Las Vegas-style coffee shop.

SLS officials said the new restaurant will be called Northside Cafe and will open Sunday.

Griddle Cafe owner Jodi Hortze said she wanted to concentrate on growing the brand in new markets. The original restaurant has been operating on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood for 15 years.

“The unilateral decision to close was a difficult one,” Hortze said. “Being part of SLS was a great learning experience, one I will always have with me.”

SLS President Scott Kreeger said the Griddle Cafe was successful, but the new casual restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night menu items “inspired by Las Vegas classic coffee shops.”

Kreeger took over as SLS president in October. A month later, the property closed its buffet.

SLS Las Vegas still has several restaurants owned by SBE Entertainment, including Umani Burger, Cleo, Katsuya, KU Noodle, Bazaar Meat and 800 Degrees Pizza.
