Durango to hire 1,200 for new casino

The Durango casino-resort, Station Casinos’ latest project, announced Monday it plans to fill 1,200 positions for its Nov. 20 targeted opening.

Table games dealers, slot attendants, public area porters, housekeeping, security, and food and beverage front of house and back of house are among some of the jobs available.

Applicants that are interested in applying can visit getajobatdurango.com or trabajaendurango.com.

Durango’s third-party restaurants will begin hiring in the coming weeks and will have job listings referred from the Durango job site.

The resort, on South Durango Drive near the 215 Beltway, will feature 200 hotel rooms, convention and meeting space, a resort pool, outdoor social areas and free parking. The $780 million project is expected to be the only unrestricted gaming property in a 5-mile radius and is in one of the fastest-growing areas of the Las Vegas Valley.

The opening date — pending regulatory approval — will come only a few days after the Strip is expected to be flooded with visitors in town for the Formula One Grand Prix. The main event race will be held on Nov. 18.
