Boyd Gaming Corp. selects hotel executive, local attorney for board

Boyd Gaming Corp. appointed the chief executive of a national hotel chain and a Las Vegas attorney to the casino company’s board of directors on Thursday.

The board appointments are for Loews Hotels & Resorts CEO Paul Whetsell and John Bailey, managing partner of Bailey Kennedy.

Loews operates 22 hotels in the United States and Canada. Bailey specializes in corporate and gaming law.

“With almost four decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Paul will be an invaluable adviser to our company as we continue to execute on our long-term growth strategy,” Boyd Gaming Executive Chairman Bill Boyd said in a statement. “As one of Nevada’s most respected attorneys, John will further strengthen our legal expertise on the board.”

Boyd Gaming, which is headquartered in Las Vegas, operates 22 casinos in eight states, including nine in the Las Vegas area.
