WSOP Circuit Tour adds stops in Florida and Pennsylvania
The World Series of Poker’s Circuit Tour added two new stops for the upcoming season — Florida and Pennsylvania.
The locations were added after the two states changed laws regarding poker and table games. The tour has 10 stops during its season, which starts Dec. 4 at Harrah’s Atlantic City.
Caesars Entertainment, which owns the World Series of Poker, doesn’t own a casino in Florida, but decided to hold the Florida leg at the 60-table Palm Beach Kennel Club, which is adjacent to the Palm Beach Airport north of Miami.
The Florida stop takes place Feb. 17 through March 1.
Three players who reached the final table of nine at the World Series of Poker’s $10,000 buy-in no-limit Hold’em World Championship event were from Florida, including runner-up John Racener.
“Florida was definitely a market we wanted to serve, as the residents of the sunshine state have been loyal participants at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas,” said tournament Vice President Ty Stewart.
Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack, located south of Philadelphia, will host the Pennsylvania Circuit Tour. It will be the first major event held in the recently constructed 25-table poker room at Harrah’s Chester. The event takes place April 27-May 9.
Caesars Palace hosts the World Series of Poker Circuit Tour’s national championship May 27-29.
