Uruguay extends Caesars Entertainment gaming license through 2036

CLEVELAND — Caesars Entertainment Corp. is focused on opening its $350 million Horseshoe Casino here on Monday. Caesars owns 20 percent of the casino and will operate the resort in a joint venture with Ohio-based Rock Gaming.

Caesars took time, however, to announce the Uruguayan government had agreed to extend the company’s gaming license in the country. The extension permits Caesars to continue to operate the casino at Conrad Punta Del Este Resort and Casino in Punta del Este, Uruguay, through 2036. The original license was set to expire in 2016.

The property opened in January 1997. The Conrad attracts international visitors and hosting large-scale international conventions to Uraguay. The resort employs more than 2,000 people, making it one of the largest private employers in Uruguay.
