Tonight at UNLV’s Johann Field, seven former Las Vegas-area high school soccer players will make the collegiate debut when UNLV takes on Northern Arizona University.
The seven college freshmen were teammates for the Las Vegas Premier Soccer Club, coached by Ivan Farris. Three of seven players, however, are injured and won’t be in the line-up.
Addy Guida of Coronado will make her debut for UNLV. Meanwhile, Natalie Gilbertson (Centennial), Alexia Gonzalez (Silverado), and Haley Wingender (Bishop Gorman), will be in the lineup for the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.
The other three, Syrina Lopez (Silverado), Cassidy McLean (Green Valley), Sarah Pate (Coronado) are recovering from ACL injuries.
"I’m really excited for everyone to see what I’ve newly joined (here at NAU)," Wingender said in a story on the NAU website. "I want everyone to see how good our team is and that we all came here together to prove a point as a unit. We want to show our hometown what they produced."
