Steve Wynn sends his greetings

Wynn Resorts Chairman Steve Wynn might have been a bit presumptuous during the company’s second quarter earnings conference call this morning.

The calls are conducted quarterly and give analysts and investors an opportunity to question management about a publicly traded company’s results, earnings and future plans.

Often times, the competition listens in to pick same competitive information.

Wynn decided to give a shout-out to his company’s competition just before the question and answer session.

"I know our competitors are listening. Hello Sheldon. Hello Jim Murren. I hope you’re having a nice summer," Wynn said.

Spokesman for Las Vegas Sands Corp. and MGM Mirage said their company’s chairmen weren’t listening to the Wynn call.

"Unlikely,” Las Vegas Sands spokesman Ron Reese said of Chairman Sheldon Adelson’s participation. The casino operator has its own earnings conference call scheduled for Thursday.

“I’ll remind Jim the Wynn call was today and let him know,” said MGM Mirage spokesman Alan Feldman of his company’s chairman, Jim Murren.
