Resorts World New York collects nearly $90 million in gaming revenues

Resorts World New York, the casino attached to the Aqueduct Race Track in New York City, collected gaming revenues of $89.9 million through Dec.31, having been open less than three months.

Malaysia-based Genting operates the casino, which opened its second phase Dec. 16 and now has 5,000 slot machine-like Video Lottery Terminals.

Since the opening of Phase II, Resorts World New York is averaging $314 a day in revenues per gaming machine.

“The early success of Resorts World New York is not surprising as the property draws significant convenience customers from the New York tri-state area,” Union Gaming Group principal Bill Lerner wrote in a research note Monday. “In addition, Aqueduct is only five miles from the JFK airport and is well positioned to capture tourists.”

Lerner said the daily revenue per gaming machine is the highest of any of New York’s racetrack casinos.

According to a report in theedgemalaysia.com, Genting Group may be in line to build the largest convention center in the United States. The company has reportedly won support from New York’s governor for the estimated $4 billion project that would replace the Jacob Javits Convention Center on the west side of Manhattan.

The project could include a casino.
