No one on the Strip is happier to see 2008 end more than Sheldon Adelson. The past 12 months have not been the best of times for the 75-year-old billionaire chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp.

States eye gambling to close budget gaps

Nevada is not alone. A recent study by the Washington, D.C.-based Center on Budget and Policy Priorities found that 41 states have faced or are facing budget shortfalls this year or next.
