Memo to the Complete Las Vegan:

Boss, as an addendum to your blog item last Wednesday about how your Southwest Airlines flight from Austin, Texas, was half-full, I had a much different experience today.

Returning from the national Society of Professional Journalists convention in Indianapolis, my Southwest flight (No. 3557) from Indiana’s capital was sold out. All 138 seats were taken.

The flight was a connection into San Francisco, but only seven of the passengers were continuing on to the Northern California city.

From my conversations with some of the passengers sitting nearby and from additional conversations that I overheard, it appeared the bulk of the passengers were already making plans to hit the Strip.

This should be good news to tourism officials who are hoping that busy weekends will start carrying over into a boost for midweek customer traffic. There is also hope the upcoming Labor Day Weekend will also give Las Vegas resorts a lift.
