Loveman wants to bring Caesars Palace to Macau

Harrah’s Entertainment Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gary Loveman told Bloomberg News Service he wants to plant the Caesars Palace brand in Macau.

One problem; there are only six gaming licenses in Macau and the Special Administrative Region’s new chief executive hasn’t shown any sign of allowing for more licenses in the 10-year-old gaming enclave.

Harrah’s, which owns the 175-acre Macau Orient Golf club near the Cotai Strip region, has the land for development. But the company would need to partner with an existing licensee. Wynn Resorts, Las Vegas Sands Corp. and MGM Mirage are the American gaming companies with Macau licenses.

“There’s nothing immediately active that could lead us there,” Loveman told Bloomberg reporter Beth Jinks last week. “We’ve made it very clear we would like to see the Caesars Palace brand in Macau. We certainly recognize there are six licensees, and somehow or other it has to fit through that lens.”
