Heads-Up Poker Championship returns to Caesars Palace

The National Heads-Up Poker Championship returns for its sixth year March 4-7 at Caesars Palace.

The bracket-style format pits 64 poker professionals and celebrities in head-to-head games of Hold’em poker for $1.5 million in prize money. The tournament is filmed for broadcast on NBC.

Last year’s champion, former World Series of Poker winner Huck Seed, will return, along with runner-up Vanessa Russo. Also scheduled to compete are poker professionals Chris Ferguson, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, and 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Joe Cada.

“It takes a lot of skill and mental toughness to get through a field of such exceptional players,” said Seed, who is the only player in the history of Heads-Up to cash in all five years of the event. “But I look forward to defending my title and trying to win it again.”

The first-place finisher receives $500,000 with second-place taking home $250,000.
