Delaware may legalize wagering on sports

Las Vegas sportsbooks may be getting some competition from Delaware.
ESPN reported recently that Gov. Jack Markell wants to legalize wagering on sports, allowing the state’s sports bars to accept wagers in time for the start of the NFL season.
Susquehanna gaming analyst Robert LaFleur said the governor’s support might push the issue through the legislature.
“While we expect sports betting to be a positive for Delaware, we do not expect it to be a huge draw from other states,” LaFleur said. “The bill would only allow parlay bets, while most avid sports bettors prefer to just bet on one thing, such as a team or an over/under.”
