Columnist Will lends support to Internet gaming cause

Add the name of conservative columnist George Will to the growing list of supporters wanting Congress to legalize Internet gambling.

Writing in last Sunday’s Washington Post, Will said Congress, which effectively outlawed online gambling in 2006, should at least make Internet poker a legal activity.

Will supports the belief of the Poker Players Alliance and several poker professionals that the game is one of skill, logic, probability “and something pertinent to military and diplomatic strategy — bluffing.”

Will said the ban on Internet gambling should be repealed.

“It is a poker skill to know when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em,” Will wrote. “Congress probably should fold its interference with Internet gambling and certainly should get its 10 thumbs off Americans’ freedom to exercise their poker skills online.”
