CityCenter hotels booking guests
Last week’s multibillion-dollar financial deal that saved CityCenter was good for advance bookings at the $8.5 billion complex.
MGM Mirage Chief Design and Construction Officer Bobby Baldwin, who also serves as the president and chief operating officer of CityCenter, said CityCenter resorts received between 5,000 and 6,000 inquiries into potential room night reservations after it was announced the 76-acre project was fully financed and would be completed by the end of the year.
During MGM Mirage’s first quarter earnings conference call Monday, Baldwin updated CityCenter’s activities, now that the financing issues are out of the way.
Through Monday, roughly 105,000 room nights have been booked at Aria, CityCenter’s 4,000-room hotel-casino centerpiece. Some 35,000 room nights have been booked in conjunction with conventions.
Over at Vdara, the nongaming hotel and condominium tower, about 54,000 room nights have been booked.
CityCenter expects to hire between 10,000 and 12,000 full-time workers and applications have been taken from almost 111,000 potential employees. About 17,000 current MGM Mirage employees have applied for CityCenter jobs.
Vdara will be the first CityCenter project to open when guests check in on Oct. 1. The all-residential Veer Towers, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and the Crystals retail, dining and entertainment complex are all expected to open on Dec. 3.
Aria is scheduled to open Dec. 16.
