Boulder City not at risk, officials say

Boulder City, a defendant in a lawsuit over contractor billing on a solar plant, has “ample protection” against claims made by a construction company, city officials said Wednesday.
Lauren Engineers & Constructors of Texas filed the lawsuit against Boulder City and Nevada Solar One, the company that operates a solar power plant of the same land on land leased from Boulder City. The construction and engineering company claims that the plant owners owe them $18 million in unpaid bills.
The construction company also filed legal papers that could be used to foreclose on 400 acres that Boulder City leased to Nevada Solar One and to foreclose on the power plant itself.
As part of the lease agreement, Boulder Citiy required Nevada Solar One to provide a $5 million surety bond and a letter of credit for $120 million to protect the city.
“Boulder City land is not at risk,” city officials said in a statement.
