Findlay’s Subaru of Las Vegas donates $17,301 to Safe Nest
April 30, 2016 - 8:00 am
Subaru of Las Vegas continued its heavy community involvement recently by donating $17,301 to Safe Nest.
Since 1977, Safe Nest has been Nevada’s largest and most comprehensive charity devoted to domestic violence issues. The group concentrates on advocacy, counseling, prevention and shelter homes.
Safe Nest is a leading advocate in promoting the eradication of domestic violence by providing confidential assistance including shelter, food, clothing, counseling, education and other services to individuals experiencing domestic violence while maintaining the highest respect and dignity for its clients.
The donation was presented as part of Subaru’s Share the Love campaign, including participation of Subaru dealerships throughout the country. More than $15 million is earmarked for the American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the National Park Foundation and more than 640 hometown charities through the nation.
The latest drive has resulted in more than $65 million being donated in the past eight years.
As part of the campaign, buyers of Subaru automobiles designate which particular charity receives a donation.
Jane Jensen Saint, director of development for Safe Nest, said the donation will help the group address continuing concerns related to domestic abuse.
“There is a huge need for this,” Saint said. “To illustrate the magnitude of the problem is the fact that while nationally one in four women will experience domestic abuse at some point in her life, one out of every two women suffer from domestic abuse in Nevada.”
Saint added, “Safe Nest helps over 50,000 individuals each year who need the vital services to address domestic abuse. Safe Nest services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, advocacy and counseling for the whole family, including the children and the abusive partner. We work to break the cycle of violence, and community support such as Subaru’s is vital in helping us reach the thousands of hurting families in Southern Nevada.”
Subaru General Manager Burton Hughes praised the work of Safe Nest.
“Safe Nest is an invaluable part of our community,” Hughes said, “and we’re proud to partner with them.”

Towbin Fiat recognized as top dealership for 500L sales
Towbin Fiat/Alfa Romeo, located at 2550 S. Jones Blvd., sold more Fiat 500L models than any other dealership in the country for March and is the top-selling 500L dealership for the year, as of March 31.
“I am proud of our team and thankful to the many loyal customers so far this year who have helped us to reach this goal,” said Josh “Chop” Towbin, co-owner of Towbin Automotive. “Our Fiat dealership is small in comparison, but our dedication to customer service and personal attention continue to stand out to make us unique.”
The four-door Fiat 500L comes equipped with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission with a 160-horsepower, four-cylinder engine. The stretched 500 model, with more interior seating and storage, gets roughly 33 mpg on the highway.
“We call the Fiat 500L our ‘Little Limo,’ ” said Towbin. “It’s an extended, roomier version of the Fiat 500 with all the bells and whistles. And just like all Fiats, it’s smooth to drive and places a high priority on safety.”
Towbin Fiat is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and until 9 p.m. on Saturdays. More information, including the latest deals and offers, may be found by visiting www.kingofcars.com.
