Findlay’s Red Fiat 500 promotion is benefitting art students

A red 2017 Fiat 500 Pop is being offered as a grand prize to benefit City Lights Art Gallery at 3 E. Army St. in Henderson.

Dubbed “The Little Red Fiat,” the vehicle donated by Findlay Fiat in the Valley Automall is the carrot in a special promotion that will run through Oct 6. Those making a $25 donation to City Lights Artists’ Co-op Scholarship Fund will earn the opportunity to pick a five-digit number that could lead to someone winning the $17,000 vehicle.

Tommy Tucker, president of City Lights Art Gallery, said the promotion has been well-received since it was started Aug. 1.

“This has gone very well,” Tucker said. “Our demographics are young college-bound students and their families, because the scholarship is for young artists headed for college. The Fiat is the perfect vehicle for this particular clientele. College-bound students have a chance to win a car, and City Lights Art Gallery’s scholarship fund gets a great boost at the same time.”

Tucker also mentioned that Findlay Cadillac recently donated $5,000 to City Lights Art Gallery.

“Findlay Cadillac’s donation is the largest City Lights has ever received,” said Tucker, a native of upstate New York who has lived in Southern Nevada for four years. “This is what we’re all about, and Findlay Automotive Group has illustrated its commitment to Southern Nevada by being a big part of the event.”

Also connected to the Little Red Fiat promotion is the Nevada Southern Railway Art Train, which will play host to another fundraiser for City Lights from 5:30-8 p.m. Sept. 30.

“The Art Train is a wonderful experience for enthusiasts of all ages,” Tucker said. “The train ride is a one-of-a-kind experience and will be held at a beautiful time of year. It’s a perfect time and it’s a fun event.”

Tucker said the train rides will include wine and hors d’oeuvres. Twenty artists from City Lights will display their work of four art pieces per artist during the rides, and the Little Red Fiat will be showcased on the grounds of Nevada Southern Railway in Boulder City.

“We are eternally grateful to Findlay Fiat for making this promotion possible for us and helping fulfill our mission to promote art, especially that of students,” said Cat Schelling, who helps City Lights with various aspects, including marketing, promotions and social media.

Both Findlay Fiat and Findlay Cadillac are spearheaded by general manager John Saksa, who praised the gallery for its dedication to local youth.

“This is a very rewarding fundraiser,” said Saksa. “We have some excellent students in Southern Nevada, and we appreciate the opportunity to help art students who can now capitalize on their passion.”
