Elements of QX70 provide superior performance, style

When two great ideas come together to form more than the sum of their parts, it might look a lot like the 2017 Infiniti QX70 crossover SUV.

This model intricately combines the handling of a sport sedan with the power and versatility of an SUV.

Car reviewer Edmunds.com lauds the 2017 QX70 for its “sharp handling that makes it feel more like a sport sedan than a tall SUV; plenty of passing power from the standard V-6 engine; well-trimmed interior has high-quality materials throughout. It also has unique styling and a luxurious interior.”

The words of praise for this model come as no surprise to Park Place Infiniti General Manager Rob Schweizer.

“The QX70 is built on a sports car-inspired platform with the engine’s weight toward the center,” Schweizer explained. “It’s balanced for better handling.”

According to the manufacturer, the QX70’s wide stance, flowing hood and sculpted taillights all come together in a design crafted for balance and aerodynamics. Available 21-inch wheels and low-profile tires for this model offer superior grip and steering response.

The available all-wheel-drive system monitors wheel-spin, throttle position and vehicle speed and sends up to 50 percent of the available power to the front wheels for better traction in adverse conditions. When all-wheel drive is not required, 100 percent of the power goes to the rear wheels for more responsive road performance.

The Infiniti QX70’s handling is enhanced by its seven gears, which provide perfect timing for quick acceleration. A seventh gear also means lower cruising rpm and increased fuel efficiency. Drivers can have a seamless experience in automatic mode or switch to manual with what Infiniti calls “Downshift Rev Matching,” and can use the available magnesium paddle shifters for direct control of the exhilarating 325-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine.

Every inch of the QX70 cockpit is designed to engage the driver’s senses with luxurious and inviting materials such as leather-appointed seating and black lacquer interior trim.

Such style and performance are hallmarks of all Infiniti vehicles. The QX70 also provides drivers and passengers the utmost in safety features, including the world’s first Around View Monitor, which uses advanced technology to help make parking easier. Four cameras on the QX70 build a virtual 360-degree bird’s eye view on the display to help the driver see what’s around the vehicle. Safety is enhanced by Infiniti’s Moving Object Detection system.

Also, the QX70’s lane departure warning systems help keep the driver from drifting. A camera monitors the distance between the vehicle and lane markings. If the driver drifts towards the lane markers, an audible warning sounds, and, if necessary, brakes are lightly applied to help ease the vehicle back into the lane.
