Findlay COO nominated for Time Dealer of the Year award
Findlay Automotive Group Chief Operating Officer Tyler Corder has been nominated for the Time Dealer of the Year award by Andrew MacKay, executive director of the Nevada Franchised Auto Dealers Association.
Corder is one of a select group of 49 dealer nominees from across the country who will be honored in January at the 100th annual National Automobile Dealers Association Convention in New Orleans.
The Time Dealer of the Year award is one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious and highly coveted honors. Recipients are among the nation’s most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service.
“The most rewarding aspect of my career has been leading the growth of the Findlay Automotive Group for the past 22 years,” Corder said. “We’ve been able to provide great careers for our employees and improve the communities where we operate.”
After a 14-year career with GMAC, Corder joined Findlay Automotive Group as chief financial officer in 1994 and was named COO of the company in 1996.
“We had four dealerships and fewer than 200 employees when I joined,” Corder said. “We have grown to 28 dealerships in five states and employ more than 1,800 people. I have responsibility for all operations of the auto group.”
Corder also is heavily involved in the community. He was president of the board of trustees for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Southern Nevada from 2009 to 2013.
He currently serves as board president of the American Red Cross of Southern Nevada and is a board member for the Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow and the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce. Corder also is past board president of Safe Nest and has held leadership positions for the American Heart Association and the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame Foundation.

Children attend Halloween event at Park Place Infiniti
Park Place Infiniti, 5555 W. Sahara Ave, invited the Boys & Girls Club for a Trunk-or-Treat event on Halloween.
More than 50 children started off their night of trick-or-treating there, making the rounds in the showroom getting candy. But that was just half the fun. Throughout the event, Park Place Infiniti team members from each department did their best to entice the children to vote for their decked-out Infiniti model for best in show.
The children considered carefully, several making multiple rounds to inspect each vehicle, and cast their votes.
At the end of the night, the service department prevailed with the most votes. The winning masterpiece was the trunk of a 2017 QX60 filled with everything from spooky skulls and skeletons to a smoke machine, lighting effects and jumbo-size candy bars.
Paws for the Cause at Friendly Ford finds homes for shelter dogs
The Friendly Ford Paws for the Cause fall event found homes for numerous shelter dogs from the Animal Foundation during an impressive event Oct. 22.
First to adopt a shelter dog were Bob and Sue Miller, who found a female terrier mix named Snow.
“We needed another dog because we lost our other dog about five months ago,” Sue said. “We have been looking for quite some time, and we found the perfect dog. She is going to have a great life and have everything she wants along with full run of the house and the pool.”
Dealership general sales manager Steve Crevling said this Paws for the Cause was the best ever.
“In the first 30 minutes, we had more people than I have seen at past events,” said Crevling, who has been with the dealership for almost six years. “There were people looking for dogs before the event even started.”
Event founder Olliges Arcana agreed that Paws for the Cause reached a new level of community awareness.
“Paws for the Cause is more than just a day when dogs can be adopted,” she said. “We concentrated on pet owner education and awareness, proper training and microchipping to ensure the pet’s safe return should it get lost. Most importantly, lots of love and patience is needed for these shelter dogs who truly have been through so much.”
The shelter dogs came from the Animal Foundation, located at 655 N. Mohave Road. The foundation offered 50 percent off adoption fees during the event. Further information regarding the Animal Foundation can be found by visiting animalfoundation.com or calling 702-384-3333.
The Animal Foundation is a nonprofit organization operating Nevada’s largest animal shelter, the Lied Animal Shelter, and animal adoption center. For 33 years, it has housed a multitude of services and provides a refuge for more than 50,000 homeless, lost, neglected and abused animals each year.
