United Nissan to host free teen Auto Safety clinic

Safe driving techniques, technology and car care are part of the Nevada driver’s education course that high school students under the age of 18 are required to take before they get a license. To help students prepare for the learner’s permit and become more responsible drivers, United Nissan has teamed up with SMARTeen Driver to offer a free two-hour Auto Safety and Car Care workshop on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Students will get to work alongside certified Nissan technicians to learn how to check their oil, put air in and change a flat tire. “We offer this to our clients as part of their new car appreciation day, but wanted to include the local community and future drivers because we think this is vital information everyone driving should know,” said Nick Vos, general manager of United Nissan.

Parents are encouraged to participate as local legal and insurance professionals will address topics on how to get insurance discounts and what teens need to understand about their legal rights and responsibilities.

Space is limited; reservations can be made by calling 702-521-7546 or emailing sarahlee@smarteendriver.com. SMARTeen Driver is a woman-owned business run by Sarah Marks. Marks is an automotive executive and licensed drivers education instructor.

Findlay Automotive donates to the Animal Foundation

Findlay Automotive Group Chief Financial Officer Tyler Corder and Marketing Director Jeff Giles recently delivered a $3,500 to the Animal Foundation.

The donation was promoted by Findlay Automotive Group’s sponsorship of Celebrity Spin Zone on KVVU Fox 5. The unique promotion helps support charities in Southern Nevada.

Situated at 655 N. Mohave Road, the Animal Foundation operates an 8-acre campus that houses adoptable pets, all lost and found animals, a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, a low-cost vaccine clinic along with all administrations services.

After taking a tour of the Animal Foundation, the two Findlay executives were impressed with not only the layout of the grounds, but also the multifaceted services that are provided for an assortment of animals.

“I was really impressed with how clean the facility was,” Giles related. “It’s a testament to the hard work of hundreds of employees and volunteers who we were told arrive at 5:30 a.m. each day. The entire facility is simple. It’s obvious that all the funds they receive are going toward the caring of for almost 100 animals they’re taking in every day.”

The foundation takes in about 33,000 animals each year.

“The tour of the Animal Foundation was really interesting. I had no idea of the size and scope of the operation. I was most surprised by how many animals are taken in and then adopted out to the community,” Corder said. “The facility truly provides a very vital service to the community. We’re happy to be able to provide some support for this great organization.”

Help from businesses such as Findlay Automotive Group is key to continued services.

“We are so grateful to Findlay Automotive Group for choosing The Animal Foundation for December’s Celebrity Spin Zone on Fox 5,” said Nina Radetich, director of marketing and communications for the Animal Foundation. “The generous donations raised by celebrity spinners will help us get one step closer to our goal of saving all healthy and treatable animals in the Las Vegas Valley.

“Community partners like Findlay Automotive Group are crucial to helping the Animal Foundation continue its work on behalf of the animals of Southern Nevada.”
