Scattered showers in forecast this week

When it rains, it doesn’t always pour.

At least, that’s the case in Las Vegas this week.

Scattered showers are in the forecast, with a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms across the valley through the end of the week, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Outler said Monday evening.

“There’s always that chance,” Outler said of possible flash flooding, but it’s more likely that the amount of rain Las Vegans will see is only enough to dirty a car.

High temperatures will stay between 105 and 110 degrees, Outler said. Las Vegas reached a high of 110 degrees Monday, seven degrees hotter than the average temperature of 103 for June 29. The record is 115 degrees, Outler said.

In addition to highs ranging between 105 and 110 degrees, Outler expected low temperatures to be “quite warm, even with cloud cover,” in the 85-to-90 degree range. The result may be warmer nights, he said.

Everything Las Vegas is expected to experience is “typical” summer weather, Outler said.
