Rebels allow one hit, but lose 2-1 at Fresno State in Mountain West baseball

Taylor Ward’s two-run homer in the first inning was all the offense Fresno State needed Saturday in its 2-1 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game in Fresno, Calif.

D.J. Myers (2-1) and Joey Lauria teamed to limit the Bulldogs (5-5, 2-3) to one hit. Myers worked the first 5 1/3 innings, giving up five walks and the two runs while striking out six. Lauria fanned five in 2 2/3 perfect innings.

Fresno State starter Dylan Lee (1-1) held the Rebels (6-4, 0-2) to one run on three hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Morgan Stotts, who finished 2-for-3, led off the seventh with a double and scored after consecutive groundouts to first.
