Police say man stabbed neighbor to death

A 31-year-old man stabbed his next-door neighbor to death with a kitchen knife Tuesday in a downtown neighborhood, Las Vegas police said.
Antonio Tiznado was booked into the county jail on charges of murder with a deadly weapon after 37-year-old Agustin Lopez-Herrera was stabbed at a house in the 300 block of 13th Street, near Maryland Parkway and Stewart Avenue.
Tiznado went to Lopez-Herrera’s house about 5:45 p.m., according to the police report. Lopez-Herrera’s roommate, Luis Gabriel Lobatos-Sandoval, was at the house and went into the kitchen to cook some food after Tiznado arrived.
About five minutes later, Lobatos-Sandoval heard a scream and came running from the kitchen to find his roommate bleeding from the chest and Tiznado fleeing with a knife in his hand, police said.
Police arrested Tiznado several blocks away and took him to a station for questioning. He told police that he became angry at Lopez-Herrera and stabbed him but said he didn’t know why, an arrest report said.
Although he alluded to an earlier event in which someone tried to break into his house through a window, Tiznado couldn’t connect it to Lopez-Herrera, police said.
Tiznado later told police that the blood they found on him was from the man “he had stabbed earlier,” the report noted.
