HORSE RACING

TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD PARK

By Richard Eng

Post Time 7:05 p.m.

Race 1 – 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $39,000, Claiming $50,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Black Hills Goldie – Logical chalk beat much better two races ago for $62,500 class; similar effort will beat these too.

Jungle Girl – Was overmatched in last, now gets major class relief albeit in debut on grass; worth taking a good look.

Long Shot – Angel Eyed

Race 2 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $31,000, Claiming $32,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

Here Comes Ray Ray – Exiting a strong race chasing Sindy with an S and Kitten Exchange; will sit and stalk for Nakatani.

Topper’s Smiling – Tepid chalk in a pretty wide open sprint; Spawr claimed from O’Neill, need only repeat to compete.

Long Shot – Wicket Wager

Race 3 – 6 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Claiming $10,000, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up

Slide Home – Exiting a convincing win over similar Cal-bred foes; will probably stalk Bradford in the early stages.

Hemet Thought – Did not run badly facing better in last in an elongated sprint; figures to move forward in this spot.

Long Shot – Mysterious Cat

Race 4 – 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up

American Influence – Gets a big break moving inside from parking lot post 14 in last; tactical speed to sit a nice trip.

Silver and Black – Ran last time like he needed the race, his first in 16-months; Mullins adding blinkers on, expect better.

Long Shot – Johnny the Watch

Race 5 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $49,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

Darkness Night – Chance to sit behind a wicked fast early pace; has yet to win in the U.S. but not for a lack of trying.

Meetmeinthewoods – Tepid chalk lost a tough decision in last to a good group; if Nakatani bides his time, the race may fall apart.

Long Shot – Kalookan Dancer

Race 6 – 6 furlongs, Purse $46,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

Complexity – Gets big class relief after running in two tough stakes as a maiden; suspect he will stalk the pace set by others.

Yodelay You’re Who – FTS from the highly respected Koriner barn; has the win early pedigree to be quick, watch the tote.

Long Shot – Starcast

Race 7 – 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), $60,000 Tuzla, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

Running Bobcats – Dead late closer should see a pace friendly race shape to do her best; must repeat her solid Calder form.

Stylish Wildcat – Speedball exiting a career best blazing effort; she’s probably too quick, and classy, for the other speed.

Long Shot – No Lullaby

Race 8 – 7 furlongs, Purse $15,000, Maiden claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

Tale of the Scale – Ran miserably in last, but her race two back is fast enough to upset; also like the turn back in distance.

Reckoning Day – Tepid chalk was running well late in her debut; no shock if she improves big time in her second career start.

Long Shot – Inspiration Within

Best Bet – Complexity (race 6)

Hollywood Thursday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 16/5/$31.00; Long Shots, 8/0/$0; Best Bet, 1/1/$4.80

Hollywood Totals – 215/51/$353.60; Long Shots, 108/12/$156.60; Best Bets, 13/5/$20.60
