Beauty Bar hosts AFAN benefit

The second annual “Fashion Fling: Magic & Mystery,” benefiting the upcoming AFAN AIDS Walk, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. today at the Beauty Bar, 517 Fremont St.

The evening will showcase a Friday the 13th carnival atmosphere and entertainment, and a fashion show produced by Globe Salon. Models will strut the runway wearing styles from enigmatic designer Betsey Johnson and downtown vintage store The Attic.

A $25 tax deductible donation gets guests complimentary beverages and cocktails. A raffle also will take place.

Blues festival to aid local food bank

The Las Vegas Blues Festival, a benefit for the Community Food Bank for Clark County, will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park, 720 Twin Lakes Drive.

Performing artists include Leon Blue, Scott Rhiner and the Moanin’ Blacksnakes, the Andy Walo Group, the SpellCasters and Al Ek & the Shuffle-Aires.

Gates open at 11 a.m.

Food will be available for purchase.

Blankets and lawn chairs are encouraged.

Admission is at least two nonperishable items. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.
