2 victims of Northern Nevada RV park plane crash identified

RENO — Officials have identified both people who were on board a small plane that crashed into a Northern Nevada recreational vehicle park.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office said 73-year-old John Brown and 50-year-old James Elliker, of Sparks, died Tuesday after the single-engine Beechcraft A36 went down about a half-mile from a runway at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Brown had been piloting the plane when it hit the ground nose first and caught fire, damaging several RVs and vehicles, police said. People in nearby RVs managed to escape uninjured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
