Cunninghams at Winchester Center
The Las Vegas Jazz Society presents the vocal duo the Cunninghams at 2 p.m. Sunday at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.
Don Cunningham, a St. Louis native, was a member of Count Basie’s band and played percussion for Johnny Mathis’ band for seven years before focusing on his vocals in 1969.
Alicia Cunningham, a native of Los Angeles, was an operatic contralto before taking on the jazz style.
They have recorded five albums, and the song “I Remember Bird” earned them a Grammy nomination in 1988.
The Cunninghams will be joined by the John Nasshan Trio, which is made up of Nate Tanouye and Kevin Stout on trombones and George Herrara on conga drums.
Tickets are $17 general admission, $12 for students and seniors, and $8 for Las Vegas Jazz Society and Guitar Society members. Seating is first-come, first served. Advance purchase is recommended.

Wonderly exhibition opening in rotunda
R.C. Wonderly III’s exhibition “recent studies” opens Monday at the Clark County Government Center Rotunda Gallery, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
In past works, Wonderly seamlessly “popped up” architectural structures from stacks of 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper. For “recent studies,” Wonderly uses common construction materials such as 2-by-4-inch pieces of wood, hardwood flooring, plywood and sheet rock.
In 2006, Wonderly took first place for sculpture in the Las Vegas Art Museum’s Round Up.
The exhibit continues through Sept. 14.
Admission is free. For more information, call 455-8239.
