FISHING REPORT

LAKE MEAD — Cut bait has been the ticket for stripers along the beaches and at Hemenway Point, where a 10-year-old reeled in a 22-pound fish last weekend. Stripers weighing 12 and 14 pounds also were caught. Anglers continue to catch fish in the 1- to 3-pound class in the Vegas Bay area on cut bait and by jigging hard baits.

The NDOW trout-stocking plan calls for the planting of rainbow trout each week at B-5 road and at Hemenway.

Trout anglers might want to try rainbow PowerBait or small hardware such as Panther Martins, Super Dupers or Little Jakes. Striper activity usually picks up in the vicinity of the trout plants.

LAKE MOHAVE — Fishing has improved in the Cottonwood Cove area and is described as fair to good. Anglers have been coming in with stringers full of stripers and catfish. Twenty-pound or bigger stripers reportedly have been taken while trolling lures. Trolling with bait also is producing fish.

At Willow Beach, rainbow trout are being caught near the hatchery outflow, but fishing has slowed. Those who have been catching the fish are doing so on PowerBait or flies. Striped bass anglers have found success while throwing Bomber Long A lures and swimbaits in trout patterns. One angler reeled in a 35-inch fish that weighed 17.5 pounds just downstream of Monkey Hole.

LAS VEGAS URBAN PONDS — Rainbow trout have been keeping fishermen busy at Floyd Lamb Park, Lorenzi Park, Sunset Park and Veterans Memorial Park. PowerBait, hardware and flies have been taking the fish.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR — The reservoir is covered with thin ice. Conditions are unsafe. Anglers can fish from the dock but first will need to drill a hole through the ice.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR — Thin ice covers the reservoir. Conditions are unsafe.

KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA — The boat ramps iced up last week, and ice on the reservoirs is unsafe for anglers.
