Man sentenced for meth death

FALLON — A Fallon man was sentenced to at least nine years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter for injecting his girlfriend with a deadly dose of methamphetamine.

District Judge Leon Aberasturi handed down the sentence last week to Jason Pemberton, 27, who will be making his third trip to prison.

Pemberton was accused of injecting Nicole Ayala with meth in July 2006. He took her to the hospital after she collapsed and stopped breathing as she was taking a shower. The cause of death was determined to be a meth overdose.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Tom Stockard said Pemberton got the drugs that led to Ayala’s death from his father and was first introduced to drug use by his mother.
