Canyon Springs boys take third in Phoenix

Deremy Geiger had 29 points and seven assists to lead Canyon Springs’ boys basketball team to an 89-82 win over Ballard (Ky.) in the third-place game at the North Invitational in Phoenix on Saturday.

Geiger hit 4 of 5 free throws down the stretch to seal the win for the Pioneers. Raveon Samuel had 16 points and seven rebounds for Canyon Springs, and Kevin Wilson had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Lynwood (Calif.) 59, Durango 54 — At Durango, D’Angelo Scott had 25 points to lead Lynwood to the overtime win.

Glenn Pullium had 10 points and 14 rebounds to lead Durango.

GIRLS

Lynwood (Calif.) 48, Durango 47 — At Durango, Lynwood hit a free throw with six seconds left to get the win.

Durango’s Lindy La Rocque had 20 points, and teammate Austin Rarere scored 15.
