Sands Corp. casino opening in Pennsylvania is next up

Following Sunday’s grand unveiling of M Resort, another casino opening is on the horizon. But this event is on the other side of the country.
Las Vegas Sands Corp. said today it would open its $743 million Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Bethlehem, Pa., on May 22.
The slot machine-only casino will become the state’s eighth casino since gambling was legalized.
The souring economy forced Las Vegas Sands to scale back plans for the project, built on the site of the former Bethlehem Steel Mill. The casino will open with 3,000 slot machines and four restaurants. Other amenities, such as retail and a museum dedicated to the history of the steel mill, are on hold until financing becomes available.
The casino is located about 50 miles north of Philadelphia and 80 miles west of New York.
