Rebels throw off Cowboys 83-66

Wink Adams scored 20 points, Rene Rougeau had 14 and Tre’Von Willis had 13 to lift UNLV to an 83-66 victory over Wyoming tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Rebels improved to 14-4 and 2-2 in the Mountain West Conference by stopping a two-game losing streak.

Kendall Wallace hit a 3-pointer and Oscar Bellfield scored on a layup to put UNLV up 65-53 with 8:24 remaining.

Sean Ogirri finished with 21 points for the Cowboys (12-5, 1-2).

Adams scored 16 points to lead the Rebels to a 39-32 halftime lead. He scored six straight points to put UNLV ahead 31-26 with five minutes remaining.

The Rebels next play at Brigham Young on Wednesday.

The Rebels (13-4, 1-2 Mountain West Conference) are trying to rebound from consecutive losses at Colorado State and Texas Christian, and they played with more energy in a fast-paced first half.

Adams was the igniter. He scored six straight points to put UNLV ahead 31-26 with five minutes remaining.

Rene Rougeau added 10 points for the Rebels, who shot 16-for-45 (35.6 percent) compared to the Cowboys 12-for-25 shooting.
