Basting tongs keep barbecue from getting your goat

“One Saturday, I found myself without a basting brush when preparing to grill for a party, so I improvised by pouring the BBQ sauce onto the chicken and spreading it with the tong ends,” said Ed Spellman, founder of Sackso Enterprises. “Immediately, I noticed that the long reach of the tongs kept my hands safely away from flare-ups that are common when grilling. At that point I knew I was on to something, and as soon as the last guest left, I went into my shop and put together the first basting tongs prototype.”

The Grilly Goat not only reduces the hazards of grilling, it also reduces the number of necessary tools and the mess that is normally left.

The basting tongs feature soft, no-slip pads for comfort as well as scalloped tip ends to firmly grab grilled items without piercing the meat or veggies. Plus, the 16-inch length keeps hands at a safe distance from the heat and splatter. To baste, simply insert the silicon brush and have at it.

The sauce pot holds two cups of any sauce you desire; it doubles as a cradle for the basting tongs. Its slot and tab design keeps the tongs in place over the pot to help maintain clean grill areas. Also, the large ergonomic handle minimizes fatigue and maximizes the stability of the vessel, making it virtually spill-free.

The tongs and sauce pot are made of stainless steel, while the removable basting brush inserts are produced from silicon. All are dishwasher safe, which makes cleanup a breeze.
