AD committee sets additional interviews for UNLV vacancy

Maybe the hiring of Arizona athletic director Jim Livengood as UNLV’s next AD isn’t so inevitable.

Livengood interviewed over the weekend, but UNLV search committee chairman Gerry Bomotti said Sunday other candidates are expected to be interviewed today and Tuesday.

The search committee meets again Tuesday afternoon, and Bomotti said he didn’t know if an athletic director would be hired this week.

"I hope so, but we have to take it one step at a time," Bomotti said. "In the end, the president (Neal Smatresk) wants to make the right choice for the long term of the university. We’re moving along as fast as we can, and we have a very strong candidate pool."

In addition to Livengood, interim athletic director Jerry Koloskie and South Point Arena general manager Steve Stallworth interviewed over the weekend. Bomotti said there have been other prior interviews, but did not identify those candidates.
