Burglary suspect shot by resident at Henderson apartment complex

A man was shot as he tried to burglarize an apartment in the southeast Las Vegas Valley early Wednesday morning.

A resident at The Villas at Green Valley Apartments, 2362 N. Green Valley Parkway, near Warm Springs Road, called 911 about 2:45 a.m. to report an intruder in his home. The resident informed police that he shot the intruder, Henderson police spokeswoman Michelle French said.

The intruder ran from the residence to another apartment in the same complex, where he was staying with his sister, French said.

The intruder’s sister also called police to report the shooting, police said.

The intruder was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound to his bicep area, French said.

The resident was not injured and no property was taken, police said.

The intruder was still at the hospital about 8 a.m. and charges had not yet been filed, French said.

The incident is under investigation.
