Organize your home office

In recognition of the National Association of Professional Organizer’s observance of Get Organized Month, here are a few tips to get you started.

During the organizing process, put the allotted time into your schedule, just the same as you would any other appointment. Evaluate each item, categorize it, put it away and throw out as much as you possibly can.

Create a solid filing system. Simple, well-labeled filing systems are essential and easy to maintain.

Set time aside at the end of every day to file papers, straighten up your desk and the surrounding areas. This allows for a fresh, clean start the following morning.

Review the tasks and appointments for the next day and/or near future. Make sure you have all the information and items needed for each commitment.

Always keep your planner, whether electronic or paper, up-to-date with appointments, as well as any information pertaining to those appointments. Possibly supplies, paperwork, etc.
