Ex-WSOP boss Pollack lands post with Professional Bull Riders

Former World Series of Poker Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack has landed a position with the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR).

Pollack, who spent four years with the poker tournament before resigning last November, was elected to the PBR’s Board of Directors as Executive Chairman.

According to a statement from the Pueblo, Colo.-based PBR, Pollack is expected to take “an active role in leading the PBR board and senior management team into a new phase of global competition, brand and business growth.”

Pollack, who ran the World Series of Poker for Harrah’s Entertainment, helped grow the tournament by adding events and sponsorships while increasing participation. Last year’s World Series Poker attracted a record 60,875 players and awarded more than $174 million in prize money.

Pollack left Harrah’s after the casino operator moved the tournament’s stewardship under the company’s newly-created interactive division.

The PBR marks the fourth sport in which Polack has taken a role. Prior to poker, Pollack worked in senior executive capacities with NASCAR and the National Basketball Association. Pollack was the founding president and publisher of The Sports Business Daily.

“I’m honored to join the board of directors of this exciting sport,” Pollack said in a statement. “My goal is to help the PBR build on its proven track record of success, reach out to new fans globally, and further celebrate the world’s best bull riding competition.”

PBR events are televised on Versus, NBC and CBS.
