The Las Vegas Nevada Sandstone Stake Relief Society will host a Women’s Conference and Humanitarian Day of Service 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church at 221 S. Lorenzi St. The theme of the event is “Hands of Hope” Guest speaker will be Mariama Kallon, and a light lunch will be served (683-9316).

The third annual Tzedakah Brunch will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health Activity Center, 888 W. Bonneville Ave. The theme of the brunch is “Miracles Take Work,” and the event will highlight Project Ezra, a program run by the Jewish Family Service Agency. Christina Primack, director of Project Ezra, will give the keynote speech. Honorees to be recognized at the brunch include: Rabbi Sanford Akselrad of Congregation Ner Tamid and one of the project’s founders; Andy Katz, president of Manpower Inc. of Southern Nevada; Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies; and the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas. Tickets are $100 (732-0304).

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas is hosting a free film series Sundays in May in support of the Pride Festival. “Soldiers Girl” will be shown this weekend. Screenings will begin at 6 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Worship Hall, 3616 Lake Mead Blvd. (737-7780).

Govinda’s Center of Vedic India, 6380 S. Eastern Ave., offers Mantra Meditation, a presentation of Indian Vedic Wisdom, vegetarian snacks and literature at 6 p.m. Sundays (434-8332).

Singles groups

The Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada, Temple Sinai and Congregation Ner Tamid offer a variety of programs for Jewish singles of all ages in Las Vegas and Henderson. For details, call the Jewish Community Center at 794-0090, Temple Sinai at 254-5110 or Congregation Ner Tamid at 733-6292.

New Life Christian Center has a singles meeting at 7 p.m. the second Friday of the month at 1229 E. Carson Ave. (387-5433).

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church sponsors singles groups for professionals 25 to 45 years old and a singles group for people 45 and older (228-8311, Ext. 7333 or 7334).

Single Adults Learning Together, or SALT Ministries of CornerStone Christian Fellowship, meets at 6 p.m. Saturdays at 5825 W. Eldora Ave. (871-5050).
