UFC’s Ferguson: I’m a very scary opponent for this division — VIDEO

In a talk with media, Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson explained the extent of his lung problem, what he thinks of Khabib Nurmagomedov and his latest opponent Michael Chiesa, and how hungry he is to get a shot at fighting for the lightweight championship.

Back in April, Ferguson was expected to clash with Nurmagomedov at UFC on Fox 19. It was the second time the bout between the top ranked fighters had been booked, but Ferguson had to withdrawal due to a lung ailment.

Instead of waiting for Ferguson to get healthy, Nurmagomedov accepted a tilt against Darrell Horcher, won by second-round technical knockout, and claimed the no. 1 spot in the UFC’s lightweight rankings.

“El Cucuy” currently owns a 7-fight win streak and last defeated Edson Barbosa at The Ultimate Fighter season 22 Finale. Barbosa was a late replacement for Nurmagomedov at that event as he had withdrawn due to an injury.

On July 13, Ferguson will trade leather with Michael Chiesa. Both are winners of The Ultimate Fighter and will headline the UFC’s first-ever event to be held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
