Poor head cheese — cursed, by its very name, to be an acquired taste that most people never get to the point of acquiring. But it’s the Lady Gaga of luncheon meats; while most of us don’t understand the appeal, its fans love it. And fellow readers bring news of its local availability for Richard Nutley.

Ralph Lemme e-mailed that he found it at Smith’s at 4444 N. Rancho Drive, Ray Moreton and Chad Brown saw it at Glazier’s Food Marketplace at 8525 W. Warm Springs Road, Moreton and Eric Blum found it at Sunflower Farmers Market (3365 E. Tropicana Ave. and 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd.) and Chris Jensen of Village Meat & Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., said they carry it as well. …

For Delores Bruce, Jensen said Village Meat & Wine carries Lund’s Swedish Pancake Mix. Brown said it’s available at www.Amazon.com, but added that an easy recipe is 2 eggs, 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of flour. …

For Justin Case, Greg Buffington e-mailed that Noodles at Bellagio, 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South, has braised abalone on the menu, and another reader saw it frozen at 99 Ranch Market, 4155 Spring Mountain Road. …

For Bob Merten, Kathy Salazar e-mailed that Wundabar German Bologna still is available at the Albertsons stores at 2851 N. Green Valley Parkway and 190 N. Boulder Highway and in the deli at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 540 Marks St. — all in Henderson. And, since Merten asked for other good brands, Moreton suggested Boar’s Head, which can be found at Smith’s, Glazier’s and Sunflower. …
