Blazers debut with easy win

Luke Babbitt led five players in double-figures as Portland rolled to an 84-67 victory over Houston in the second game of Day 3 at the NBA Vegas Summer League on Sunday afternoon at Cox Pavilion.
Babbitt scored 13 points, while Patrick Mills added 12 and Dante Cunningham, Reyshawn Terry and Ekene Ibekwe each had 10 points. Mills also recorded nine assists and seven rebounds, while Ibekwe pulled down eight rebounds and blocked five shots.
Chase Budinger scored a game-high 21 points for the Rockets. His former Arizona teammate Jordan Hill had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Nevada duo

Armon Johnson and Luke Babbitt are teammates once again for the Trail Blazers.
The duo teamed up at UNR, the arch-rival of UNLV.
The former Wolf Pack players fared pretty well. Babbitt was Portland’s leading scorer and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Johnson had eight points and four steals.
Both players were in the starting lineup for Portland.

Bottoms Up

No, you’re not drunk. It’s really doing that.
A nifty new device for dispensing beer is being used at Cox Pavilion that fills up each cup from the bottom.
Each cup has a magnet on the bottom and is placed on a platform. The magnet is forced up and held in place by the pressure of the beer.
The beer than flows foam-free into the cup and stops perfectly when it is filled to the top.
The only drawback of the system is if the drinker accidentally pushes in the magnet while consuming the beer, it creates quite a spill.

No seats to be found

Several announcements have been made instructing people to slide over and not leave any empty seats in the rows.
Seating is almost exclusively general admission and there are more people in the arena than seats at this time.
The reason for the rush of fans into Cox Pavilion is mostly because No. 1 pick John Wall is about to take the floor for the first time as a professional.
Wall and the Wizards make their Summer League debut against the Golden State Warriors.
It might have been a good idea to move this game to the Thomas & Mack Center, but apparently the schedule just didn’t work.
