Woman killed in crash near Strip identified

A woman who died in a car crash near the Strip this month was identified Wednesday by the Clark County coroner’s office as Christina Konarski, 21, of Las Vegas.

Police said Konarski was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended by another vehicle about 4 a.m. on Dec. 12 on Tropicana Avenue west of Duke Ellington Way.

Police said Edris Ghani, 32, of San Diego was arrested in connection with the crash on suspicion of being impaired while driving.

Cynthia Konarski, 55, was traveling west on Duke Ellington in a 2004 Mercury Sable, while Ghani was directly behind her in a 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLS 550. Police said Ghani failed to reduce his speed and crashed into the Sable.

The relationship between Christina Konarski and Cynthia Konarski was not known.

Cynthia Konarski was critically injured, police said. Ghani and his passenger, Shakeep Azizi, 26, of Temecula, Calif., were not injured.
