School crowding not discussed

The topic of overpopulated elementary schools, a problem caused by the switch from year-round to nine-month schedules, was not discussed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Clark County School Board.

The issue is still being researched by Clark County School District staff. After 76 year-round elementary schools were put on nine-month calendars this year, crowding problems arose at 22 campuses that now exceed their normal building capacities by 36 percent or more.

School Board members were uncertain when the topic might return for a board discussion.
